Sustainable transport in the north
On Monday 13 January 2020 we’ll be starting work to improve pedestrian and cycle facilities between Cemetery Road and Station Road in Gillingham.

To keep two-way traffic flow along the busy B3081 Le Neubourg Way, while at the same time providing a safe working zone, the right-turn lanes and hatched space in the middle of the road are being removed to narrow the road to two traffic lanes.

Railway track works

Great Western Railway will be working between Weymouth and Yeovil Pen Mil/Castle Cary during January, February and March 2020.

This will deliver a number of infrastructure improvements, including replacing the existing Yetminster River bridge, between Yetminster and Thornford, over a seven-day period in February.

There are also plans to strengthen the lining inside Grimstone tunnel.

Pedestrian safety works 
We’ll be starting work on 6 January 2020 in Swanage to improve pedestrian safety and enhance the shopping environment for residents and visitors.

Working with Swanage Town Council, a scheme has been designed that will widen and raise the pavements through Institute Road.

Shaftesbury developer works

Work is starting in the New Year on the A350 next to the Wincombe Business Park, Shaftesbury.

As part of planning conditions for the site, from 6 January 2020 to 25 April 2020, work will be carried out by Redrow Housing and John Reilly Civil Engineering to install a roundabout to provide access to the area.

The first phase of construction will be off the main road but the following phases will need multi-way temporary signals – please look out for the contractors advance signage.
Drainage improvements

Drainage work on the A35 Upton Bypass starts on Sunday 12 January. There will be one week of night work followed by one week of daytime works.

There’ll be a rolling lane closure for the week of night works and an off-peak, lane closure for the daytime works during the second week.
